THE SITE
This service is a useful way for people to rely on each other to report and share snow-related road and driving conditions in their neighborhood. The site is set up to be used worldwide, for anyone, in their own city or town. This is an effective way for residents to share and see which roads are better plowed or more passable than others. The reports are automatically fed to twitter under @howsmystreet.
THE TEAM
This service originated as a volunteer effort from a Carnegie Mellon University group (Priya Narasimhan, Nathan Mickulicz, Shahriyar Amini, Max Salley and Rajeev Gandhi), working with Councilman Bill Peduto of the City of Pittsburgh. The service first went live during the Blizzard of February 2010.
